Our Daily Schedule & Play Philosophy

Biblical values and learning through play

“Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood.”

- Fred Rogers

8:00-9:00 Early Drop-Off

We offer early drop-off for families that need it. During this time, children will have the opportunity for free-play with many of our engaging toys, including a sensory table and colouring center.

9:00-9:20 Drop-Off

Children will hang up their backpacks, switch their shoes, and put their lunch kits and water bottles in their cubbies. Once these tasks have been completed, they begin their day with free play.

9:20-9:45 Gathering Time

We begin our morning by gathering together. This is where we pray to start our day, check in with each child, go through a devotional, remind the children of our daily schedule and provide a quick daily lesson (focusing on the topic of the week).

9:45-10:00 Snack Time

Children will be encouraged to eat a healthy snack, brought from home.

10:00-10:15 Dance Party

Everyone will dance together to songs from our monthly playlist, featuring songs focused on our monthly themes.

10:15-11:45 Kinder-Hour & Center Time

At this time, our kindergarten-aged children spend 1 hour with Miss Jeanette, our experienced certified teacher. They will participate in an engaging lesson and activity with a focus on Language Arts and Math. Following Kinder-Hour, they will head to the gym for some games and physical activity for the remaining half hour of this block.

Preschool-aged children will head to the gym, where they will spend 1 hour participating in kinesthetic learning, games and free play. At 11:15, they will head back to our main space to create a craft and/or play at our different sensory centers.

11:45-12:30 Lunch

Children will pray and then eat their lunch. When they are finished and waiting for others to finish, they can engage in quiet play with several toy options or read books.

12:30-2:30 Outdoor Play & Free Play

Depending on the weather, children will get the opportunity to play outside at one of our community’s green spaces, at the playground, in our attached play area, or explore the nearby nature trail. Children will be divided into 2 groups (youngest and oldest) and switch between outside time and indoor free play. If the weather is not conducive to outdoor play, we will play inside, using the gym.

2:30-2:45 “Wind-Down” Time

Children will relax their bodies while listening to calming music, a read-aloud or a teacher-read story.

2:45-3:00 Snack

Children will have their last snack.

3:00-4:30 Free Play & Pick-up

Children will have the opportunity for free play or any of the engaging centers that our educators prepare. If the weather is ideal, we will head outside until pick-up.

Developmental Learning, Interest-led Play and Academic Learning

At KinderSprout, we believe that play and learning go hand-in-hand.

“When the fun goes out of play, most often so does the learning. ”
