We focus on building critical thinking skills, and meeting each child where he/she is at, all the while, keeping each child’s unique interests in mind.
Children will engage in problem-solving, learning through game-play and exploration, and project-based learning.
Children will also bring their own curriculum and school work from home, to receive extra learning support from an educator.
Why Choose our Learning Pod?
We believe that when learning has relevance to a child’s own interests and curiosities, learning happens naturally, at his/her own pace. At KinderSprout Academy, learning happens through exploration, observation, problem-solving, connection, collaboration, conversation, and reflection. It’s the educator’s duty to provide the resources, time, and space for a child to unlock this creative learning potential.
Child-Led Learning
Choose Your Schedule
You’re a homeschooler, which means you value schedule-freedom. At KinderSprout Academy, you can choose to send your child 2, 3, 4, or 5 days/week, each option with its own cost.
Project-based Learning
The last hour of each day is reserved for special projects time. The educator, in conjunction with the parent, will help each child develop a project idea based on a topic of interest. Students will then dive into the topic to see what they can learn. Lastly, they will create a plan to showcase their learning. When one project ends, a new interest will be discovered, and a new special project will begin.
Curriculum Support
A portion of each day is reserved for supporting your child with his/her homeschool curriculum. Set your goals the night before and send the work with your child. Our educator is happy to help your child find success in whatever subject he/she decides to bring along!
Small Group Learning
We have a 10-1 ratio (10 students to 1 educator). This ensures that each child receives individualized attention throughout the day.
We also invite parents to volunteer. This helps to build our KinderSprout Academy community and foster relationships between all members, not just between the student and the educator.
Biblical Learning
Each day starts with prayer and a devotional. Our devotionals focus on God and science (Louis Giglio’s “How Great is Our God”, “Indescribable”, and “The Wonder of Creation” devotional books). Biblical learning is woven into daily learning and conversation at KinderSprout Academy.

Daily Schedule
“The name of the Lord is a fortified tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.”
-
Students will learn to start their day with prayer, learn important truths from devotionals and corresponding Biblical learning. They will also get to practice memorization of scripture.
-
The educator will facilitate a collaborative critical thinking exercise. This could include a ‘What if’ question, a hands-on math opportunity, logic and/or brain-teaser puzzles. Once the group has successfully solved the critical thinking exercise, the children will draw and write about it in their Thinking Journals. Not only do students get to hone their critical thinking and problem solving skills, they also get to learn how to respect the thoughts and opinions of others, how to add on to someone’s idea without interrupting, how to compliment others, and how to work as a team. Then, students will get to practice their reading, writing, and fine motor skills by reflecting on their solution.
-
Students will choose a healthy snack. It is suggested to have your child help pack their lunch so that they are involved with choosing healthy food options.
-
Students will head to the gym and burn off some energy! During this time, they will practice their gross motor skills through a variety of gym/game options.
-
Students will bring some of their homeschool work with them. The educator will help each child work through their specific instructions and curriculum. Students will get to choose a comfy spot to do their work.
-
Students can choose to play a variety of educational board games, work on a puzzle, or explore age-appropriate toys.
-
This is the second work block.
-
Time to eat lunch!
-
Students will go for a walk and play outside on one of the surrounding community playgrounds. During this time, students will be encouraged to notice nature, the changing of the seasons, and how the weather affects us. Every opportunity will be taken to explore the various things we find: buds on trees, different types of tree seeds, animal tracks, bird nests, animals, patterns on leaves, etc.
-
Students will get to choose how they want to spend this hour. There will be educational toys/resources, age-appropriate books, Yoto players (audio book readers), and art supplies. They can also work on their special projects. Students can choose to eat a snack at this time, if they are hungry.
-
Students will write down 2-3 things they would like to accomplish for the next day in regard to their learning - whether this be at KinderSprout Academy, at home, or in a different program. This gets students thinking about their own learning.

Meet the
Educators
Hi! My name is Susie Heinrichs, and I own KinderSprout Playschool Ltd and KinderSprout Academy Ltd. I’m an Alberta-certified teacher and level 3 Early Childhood Educator. I have two wonderful children and a super supportive husband.
I loved the idea of homeschooling, but didn’t see how it was possible to be both a working and homeschooling mother. That’s when I began researching. I followed the same advice I give my son: Every problem has a solution, you just need to find it. Enter - Learning Pods!
I am excited to offer an alternative educational experience for homeschooled children, and look forward to growing the KinderSprout Academy Learning Pod into a thriving, Jesus-centered educational community.
Hi, my name is Natalie Deschenes. I am so excited to be part of the KinderSprout team.
I always knew I wanted to work with children. I attended Keyano College straight out of high school and received my Educational Assistant Certificate. I am also a Level 2 Early Childhood Educator. Pair that to being able to teach kids about how important they are to Jesus Christ and you have my 2 passions. My hope is that every child that walks into this program will know without a doubt that they are loved by me and more importantly, loved by God!
I have worked in the school system for 11 years as an Educational Assistant. Most of this time has been spent in Pre-K to grade 4, running the speech program for 2 of those years. I took a break in the middle to stay at home while my children were young and ran a private day home. My husband Josh and I have 2 wonderful teenagers. I cannot believe how fast they are growing up. They are still busy, but it is so much fun!
